Performances 21-23 October 2026, Merstham Village Hall
Directed by Stephen Tickell and Konstantine Soproni
Subtitled ‘An Entertainment on Marriage’ when first performed in 1969, Mixed Doubles is a series of short plays each with two characters, portraying relationships at different stages of life, and interspersed with humorous monologues
They begin with young newly-marrieds in A Man’s Best Friend, finishing with an elderly couple looking back at their lives in Resting Place. As might be expected with authors including Alan Ayckbourn, Harold Pinter and Fay Weldon, the plays range from humorous and whimsical to poignant and satirical
